Wedding Photography Redo

I’m sure you may be a little nervous about asking for a ‘wedding photography redo’. After all, your wedding day cannot be replicated and you may now feel like you’re stuck. I’m here to tell you that It’s OK to try again.

I’ve photographed numerous wedding photography redo sessions, all for different reasons:

  • …their photo quality wasn’t what was advertised on the photographer’s site
  • …the photographer lost or re-formatted over their memory card
  • …the photographer booked the wrong date on their calendar and didn’t show up
  • …their images looked ‘too trendy’ and not classic enough to hang on the walls for years

Being on this page is a good thing. It means that you want to get what you truly envision for your lifetime of memories. You want that beautiful wall portrait. You want great family photos. Or even, you just want to feel good again.

How far in advance can we start planning?

As soon as you know the date (or a few date options), let’s talk. Best to get on the calendar as soon as possible, especially in the busy May-October months. Sessions are typically photographed during the weekdays to allow for full-wedding coverage on the weekends.

What do you usually photograph during our time together?

Coverage typically includes photos of the bride + groom in their wedding-day attire. After that, some of my couples will switch into another outfit for “anniversary photos” or more casual “couple’s photos”. Some of my couples also ask that their family members are present for part of the session (at the start time) for updated family portraits.

Will we work out a timeline?

Absolutely! We will decide on location(s) and times together based on the style + sunset times. Additionally, if you have family meeting up with us for a portion of the session, we will likely schedule to have them meet us at either the beginning or a set time toward the end.

How will we replicate our wedding day look?

Wedding dress: You’ll already have this.

Wedding flowers: If your flowers were silks, you can just bring them along. If not, you can order a bouquet through a florist or make one yourself from farmer’s market flowers. Same with a boutonniere.

Hair + Makeup: You can do it yourself, or hire a local makeup/hair team to help you.

Tuxedo: If you have one already, you are set. It not, you can either rent one for the day or wear a nice suit.

Can we re-shoot at our wedding venues?

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Some churches will allow us to re-do family formals on the altar if a church worker is planning to be there at the time of our session. If you had a local venue (like the Omni or Phipps) with common areas, we can likely shoot there. Let me know your ideas and I can relate to you my experiences, or offer locations with a similar look.

How soon do we get to see photos?

As soon as I am back in my office, I will post some preview photos, especially because you may want to share them on social media! The rest of your images will be to you within 2-3 weeks.

Do you have location suggestions?

Of course!  You can view lots of photo location ideas here.

What are your payment terms?

50% to retain the session date, 50% due 2 weeks prior. Cash, checks, and all major credit cards are accepted.
