Shady Elms Farm Weddings
Shady Elms Farm is a treasured location in the quaint town of Hickory, PA. Not far from major highways in the southwest of Pittsburgh, Shady Elms is a simply stunning “farm” venue. Unlike other barns, Shady Elms is incredibly classy and up-to-date. There is a large tent available for high guest counts, small barns for hosting cocktail hour, little swings in the trees, and a chandelier-decorated pergola for your outdoor wedding ceremony.
Throughout the day, guests can enjoy the property in a variety of ways, and the decor included on the grounds is always fitting for an outdoor venue without being overly done. Couples can dance the night away in the open barn, enjoy walks around the lake, and maintain an incredibly up-scale wedding in a beautiful outdoor location. To top it off, the owners are simply wonderful people who are able to predict the “next move” on a wedding day seamlessly.
Wedding Ceremony Site
The ceremony site at Shady Elms is under a big oak tree, with plenty of shade for guests and a beautiful pergola and view of the farm. Your guests will enjoy a quiet ceremony location, where they can take in the scenery while watching the important vows of the day. The bridal party typically enters the ceremony from the main house, as they walk up the aisles to the pergola area.
Cocktail Hour
Since all of Shady Elms is one big venue, after the wedding ceremony your guests will likely leave the ceremony site and venture to the two barns for cocktail hour. You can display lots of family photos, treats, and multiple bars for your guests to relax in this outdoor space. There are also swings, relaxing chairs, and space for high tables.
Wedding Reception
There is a large, gorgeous tent on the property for wedding receptions, and it’s one of my favorite tents in the city. There will be bathrooms for your guests on-site, and they can move from under the tent for dinner and dancing to around the lake area and barns for some casual conversation and cocktails.
Photo Locations
There are never-ending photo locations on the Shady Elms property! I love walking up the hill to take photos near the corn fields, relaxing along the lake for serene photos, and moving closer to the main house for lots of flowers and greenery. There are tons of options, and beautiful light. It’s a photographer’s paradise.
