Renaissance Hotel Pittsburgh Weddings
Searching for the perfect, modern, Downtown Pittsburgh wedding venue? The Renaissance Hotel is the perfect location. Situated on Sixth Street near the rivers, this luxury hotel features the best in skyline views! An amazing location for a Pittsburgh sports fan, your guests will have views of the Roberto Clemente Bridge and PNC Park for the entire evening! If you’re lucky, your wedding date will also be the same as a Pirates game, and you’ll be treated (as long as they win!) to bonus fireworks at the end of the evening.
Wedding Ceremonies at the Renaissance Pittsburgh
Looking for a modern ceremony space, the steps of the newly-renovated Renaissance Hotel are also striking and unique. Be sure to hire a photographer (like us!) who knows how to properly light this space, since it can be a little tricky, but rest assured – this is a gorgeous backdrop for your wedding ceremony! There are also other smaller rooms at the Renaissance that may be a good fir for your wedding ceremony. One of the thing that I love most about a ceremony on the staircase at the Renaissance is that it is grand, modern, and easy for every one of your guests to watch such a special event!
Cocktail Hour at the Renaissance
After the ceremony, your guests can enjoy cocktail hour on the second floor balcony and snack on the delicious food by the Renaissance catering kitchen. There is a main bar on this mezzanine area, as well as convenient restrooms for your wedding attendees. You’ll often see wedding guests surrounding the entire balcony area as they space out to chat with their friends and family members. Typically, while the guests are enjoying cocktail hour, you can plan family photos on the staircase for a great, un-crowded backdrop. The balcony area is also called the “Historic Arcade” on the Renaissance floor plans.
Renaissance Hotel Wedding Receptions
Although there are numerous conference rooms at the Renaissance, the most popular location for wedding receptions is in the large Symphony Ballroom, which overlooks the rivers and bridges of Pittsburgh. I have photographed weddings in this space that have the dance floor in a variety of locations, so you can work with the event staff on the perfect layout of dance floor and tables to seat your guests comfortably. By far the best part about the Symphony Ballroom is the view, so you will really want to show off that Pittsburgh scenery!
The bride and groom enter through the doors from the cocktail hour space, and head tables or sweetheart tables are typically set up against the windows. Make sure your photographer knows how to light you properly in this space – you don’t want harsh flashes showing up on those windows!
Enjoy an evening with your band or DJ, a nice long room with stunning view, and a modern hotel to retreat at the end of your wedding night! If you’re lucky, you may also have fireworks at the end of the night, thanks to baseball games by the Pittsburgh Pirates. In all, your guests are bound to have a wonderful time at your Renaissance Pittsburgh wedding!
Renaissance Hotel Weddings are some of our favorite in the Pittsburgh area, because they are always modern, bright, and unique. We could photograph our brides and grooms in the nearby downtown streets all day long, and the scenery just can’t be beat!
Wedding Photos at the Renaissance Hotel Pittsburgh
When you’re working with a downtown location, there are always tons of options for your wedding photos! To name a few, you can head directly across the street from the hotel and photograph you or your bridal party on the Roberto Clemente bridge. Remember – this is a city bridge with lots of traffic, so make sure you are careful in the streets! In addition, there are lots of locations within walking distance, including some nice areas with river views and trees along the Three Rivers Heritage Trail or Fort Duquesne Boulevard.
Inside of the Renaissance, I always like to take advantage of the colorful light inside of the lobby area, and show off the amazing ceiling in the space! Working on the staircase can sometimes be a lighting challenge, but it’s also beautiful for wedding photos! Lastly, the entry way to the Renaissance is beautiful, with a big modern chandelier and fun mirrored walls.
