WEDDING FAQS

At this time my key focus is weddings in the Tri-State area. That includes Greater Pittsburgh, the surrounding mountains, West Virginia, and Ohio.
I have been photographing weddings in the Pittsburgh area for over 15 years, so I have worked at lots of wedding venues in the area! For a list of my most recent venues, you can go to my Wedding Venues page.

It is always wonderful if your wedding photographer has worked at your venue! I know the best locations for portraits, how to easily light spaces, and the venue coordinators. It’s a great combination!

However, if I have not worked at your venue, please do not be afraid. Some of my best work comes from new inspiration. I love working at new venues as well because they provide a welcome change and new perspective on a wedding day. Having photographed weddings in everything from barns to ballrooms, I can easily light any space to make it stand out.
I’m always happy to schedule a phone or video call with inquiring couples to talk more about your plans, style, and photography vision. This is also a great way to get to know each other better and see if we bounce ideas easily. I can usually tell when talking with couples if we are a good fit. I also have a studio in Beaver, PA where you are welcome to come and chat more about your plans, view albums, and plan the day with me.

That said, I provide a ton of information on my website and really put myself out there to you in my website and social media accounts. I have lots of couples who hire me without talking prior and that is quite OK! If you’re coming as a referral, I usually already know lots of your friends.
Dates are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis with a signed contract and date retainer. The date retainer holds your wedding date on my calendar and is non-transferable and non-refundable.

In order to solidify your wedding date, you can sign the contract via an online link. All of the details for booking are included in this link. Retainers can be paid via check, cash, or credit.
Couples book several weeks to over a year in advance. Once a signed contract and deposit has been received, I will give you my undivided attention on your wedding day and before that too!
Anytime you need help with this, please reach out. I have created so many wedding timelines I think I can do it in my sleep. I am happy to help with this, as it affects a lot of your other wedding planning details such as limo reservations, makeup artist arrival times, and reception events.

I will keep a working copy of your timeline on file at all times and we can adjust it as your wedding date nears.
Often, a phone call is all we need to run through the timeline and answer any questions prior to the big day. If we have not yet met at all in-person, then meeting prior to your wedding day is always nice to do! You're always welcome to come to my studio to chat through final details.

However, I have worked with numerous couples who did not meet with me in-person until their wedding day and it all went fine! I bet you can’t tell the difference in the galleries!
Yes, because we will already have a photography timeline set, and I send this to all of your wedding vendor team prior to your event. I will ask you for your vendor information in advance of the big day and keep everyone on your team informed as to where we are with the day and how the timeline is rolling.

It’s my job to ensure that your wedding day is smooth, happy, and on-time. That’s a balancing act and I’m really good at it!
Yes!! You don’t see many of them on my website, because clients are typically more drawn to couples’ portraits, details, and little moments. However, I absolutely photograph family portraits on your wedding day. We will work from a list, and we will include everyone that is important to you!
Absolutely, it’s your wedding. If your family members would like a duplicate of the formal photographs, I will gladly step aside for them after I have ensured a photo with all eyes on me. I do ask to be the only photographer present during bridal party and couple portrait sessions.
Typically, no. Most couples use their 8 hours to span the main part of the wedding day, which includes some getting ready through reception formal events and some dancing. I am typically not there until the very end of your reception because - it can get messy :) However, some of my couples have a very special exit planned for their day and add hours to their coverage time with me in order to capture this piece of the day.
Galleries are typically ready 4-6 weeks after your wedding day. All of the images are color corrected, slight skin adjustments, backgrounds edited, and delivered in both color and black + white. All images that you see on my website have been pulled from final galleries delivered to my clients.
You can order a wedding album either up-front in your wedding package, or after your wedding day. After the wedding gallery is delivered, I will put together an initial design of a wedding album for you to look through. You can always make adjustments to this design by adding/removing images or pages, but it’s a good place to start.

You can view wedding album options on my Wedding Albums page.
Professional-quality prints are available directly through the private gallery link. They are printed with my pro-lab and shipped directly to you.
Yes, every client receives the high-resolution digital images from your wedding day without watermarks. You also have the digital rights-to-print, so you can print on your own, wallpaper your house, give them as gifts, you name it!

ENGAGEMENT FAQS

Sessions are typically photographed within a 40-mile radius of 15010. Lots of my sessions take place in the Downtown Pittsburgh area, but others are in the suburbs of Pittsburgh. If you have a certain style, I can easily help to suggest a location that would suit the look you envision for your engagement photos. I have lots of experience with locations around our area!

I have lots of couples that come to my studio property for their engagement session, With over 50 acres of land and beautiful light, it's a wonderful spot to capture an outdoor engagement.

Additionally, some couples choose to photograph their engagement session in a location that has sentimental value for them, whether that be their favorite park or their own home. I’m always open to hear more about locations that mean a lot to your relationship and how we can work them into your engagement session vision.
Yep! Sessions are typically 60-90 minutes, so however we use that time is good with me! If we are doing two locations, we will start at the first, plan driving time to the next, and conclude at your second choice. Often, which location we start with depends on the light of the day and the style you’re interested in capturing. Couples who wish to have dusk photos in the city can talk with me about timing so tat we hit that perfect light.

Also, having two locations makes a great break in the session for a change of outfits.
Yes! If you’d like to wear two outfits, that is great and offers some good variety to your gallery. I always suggest that you start with your least-favorite of the two, and then you can change into your favorite choice once you are ‘warmed up’ to taking photos.

You will need to change in your vehicle or local area restaurant/hotel restroom. Do not bring your change of clothes in a bag as we walk around for the first part of your session. Leave them in your vehicle.

If we are photographing your session at the studio property, you can change in my studio changing room.

I won’t say no! The key thing is that you need a little heavier makeup for it to show up on camera. Also, lots of my couples use their engagement session as a way to do a trial run with their hair/makeup team. It’s a win-win!
If it’s going to rain. Otherwise, we can photograph your session. The rain will damage my gear, but an overcast day still can make for great photos. Look at the images in my engagement gallery and see if you’re drawn to anything specific. I always prefer sun and more sun, so if you’re drawn to extremely sunny / back-lit images in my gallery we should really aim for a sunny day if possible and even consider rescheduling with an overcast look (easier said than done in Pittsburgh!)
Most often, I choose with my couples a session date and a backup session date and put both on the calendar. If you’d like to reschedule from the initial date, you get to move to your backup date with no problem. Ideally we only would have to do this once if necessary.

Rescheduling sessions is not done until a day prior to the session. Don’t look at the weather a week in advance. In Pittsburgh it changes way too often!
Yes - this is my job! I will walk you through posing and give you poses that are more ‘traditional’ as well as poses that produce more candid reactions. I like to mix it up and give you variety, so that you can see what you’re drawn to in the gallery once it is delivered.
Engagement galleries are typically delivered 2-3 weeks after the session.
Images are delivered via a link to a private, online gallery. Images are in high-resolution format with no watermarks. You can download the images and have the rights to print.
You have the digital rights to print, so you can wallpaper your house in your photos, give them as gifts, share on social media (with credit of course). You name it!
Yes. I take a handful of engagement-only couples throughout the year.
