They may be long days, but Indian weddings are SO much fun to photograph! For this wedding, we started in the morning with the Indian portion of the wedding day, which included the baraat outside on the city streets, and then the groom entered into the Omni William Penn Hotel for the wedding ceremony. The ceremony was a traditional Hindu ceremony, set up in the Urban Room of the William Penn. I loved this portion of the day, because there are so many traditions built into a Hindu wedding ceremony. Some of them may seem like small things, but they are all incredibly important!
After the wedding ceremony, we did photos with the family members in their traditional Indian attire. This included the bright colors on everyone involved, and my bride in a vivid red dress! Once we had completed the Indian Wedding photography portion of the day, the bride and groom went back to their hotel rooms to change into traditional American wedding outfits. The groom changed from his sherwani kurta into his American suit (maroon for this guy!) and the bride changed from her lehenge choli into her white American wedding dress. A big change, for sure!
After their outfit changes, we included more photos for their Indian-American wedding gallery and were off to the reception. This couple really mixed together their Indian and American wedding traditions nicely, and it was a joy to capture all of the important details of both of their cultures!
You know what I really love about this photo? You can see the mehndi on her arm! What a way to incorporate both in one photo!!
