Molly and Jason’s intimate winter wedding in Pittsburgh is a beautiful reminder of why small weddings and elopements have my heart. From the elegance of the Omni William Penn Hotel to the timeless beauty of the Allegheny County Courthouse, every moment was a celebration of love, simplicity, and connection. Their day was filled with thoughtful details, from the personalized ring warming ceremony to their cozy dinner at Monterey Bay Fish Grotto, which offered breathtaking views of Pittsburgh’s skyline.
Whether you’re planning a small wedding or simply searching for inspiration, Molly and Jason’s day is proof that you don’t need a large celebration to create something extraordinary.

Getting Ready at the Omni William Penn Hotel
Molly and Jason both prepared for their big day at the historic Omni William Penn Hotel, a true Pittsburgh gem. There’s something about the classic elegance of this venue that creates the perfect atmosphere for a wedding—especially a winter wedding.
Molly’s hair and makeup were expertly done by the talented team at Glam To Go, who made sure she looked absolutely stunning. When I first saw her dress, I was in awe. Her gown was a perfect balance of simplicity and sophistication. It featured a sleek, elegant silhouette, and I loved the necklace that beautifully adorned her neckline—just the right touch of sparkle to highlight her understated yet refined style.
The first look between Molly and Jason was a deeply emotional moment. We chose the Grant Street lobby of the Omni William Penn Hotel for this special occasion. The beautiful architecture and rich details of the space made it an ideal backdrop for their photos, blending classic Pittsburgh style with the elegance of their love story. We took a few portraits inside the hotel to stay warm, but even more than the photos, it was a chance for them to share a quiet, intimate moment before the day’s whirlwind began.

Wedding Ceremony at Allegheny County Courthouse
After a few portraits inside the Omni, we made our way to the Allegheny County Courthouse—just a short walk away. The courthouse is one of Pittsburgh’s architectural masterpieces, and its grand staircase made for a dramatic, yet intimate ceremony location. With only 26 close family members present, Molly and Jason’s ceremony was everything they had hoped for—personal, meaningful, and completely reflective of who they are as a couple.
One of the most beautiful elements of their ceremony was the ring warming. The couple passed their wedding rings around to each of their family members, allowing them to hold the rings and share a personal wish or blessing for the couple. This touching ritual made the ceremony feel even more connected to their loved ones. It was one of those small details that made the day feel extra special.
Following the ceremony, we captured some beautiful, traditional portraits with family members on the grand staircase. The elegance of the courthouse setting was perfect for these timeless shots. We also took some creative portraits inside the courthouse, exploring the architecture and capturing the warmth of the couple’s love in a grand, historic setting.

Exploring Pittsburgh: North Shore, Mexican War Streets & Mount Washington
After the ceremony, it was time for some fun and creative portraits in a few of Pittsburgh’s most iconic locations. First, we headed to the North Shore, where we captured stunning shots near the frozen rivers and the iconic yellow Pittsburgh bridges. The weather was chilly, but the landscape had a serene beauty that made it all worth it. I jokingly suggested we could get an epic shot standing on the ice in the middle of the river with the Andy Warhol Bridge in the background—but don’t worry, we kept it safe and stylish!
Molly and Jason also wanted to visit the Mexican War Streets, a neighborhood with sentimental value to them. Molly had lived in this area and wanted to include it in their wedding portraits. We took some fun, casual photos along the streets, even incorporating a classic car that added some vintage charm to the shots. It was a nod to their past and a perfect way to make the day even more personal.
Our final stop was Mount Washington, where the couple braved the cold for some breathtaking city skyline portraits. It was freezing up there, but the view of Pittsburgh’s skyline at sunset was nothing short of spectacular. The photos we captured against the backdrop of the city were the perfect way to wrap up their portrait session.

Elegant Wedding Dinner at Monterey Bay Fish Grotto
After the photo session, Molly and Jason joined their closest family for an elegant wedding dinner at Monterey Bay Fish Grotto. This stunning restaurant is located on Mount Washington and offers one of the best views in the city. With the sunset over the Pittsburgh skyline as a backdrop, the intimate dinner felt like a true celebration of their love and the people who matter most to them.
The restaurant’s elegant ambiance, combined with the cozy warmth of their small gathering, made for a perfect conclusion to their wedding day. It was an evening filled with laughter, heartfelt speeches, and delicious food—everything you could ask for in a small but meaningful wedding celebration.

Why I Love Photographing Small Weddings
As a photographer, there’s something incredibly special about capturing small weddings. These celebrations are full of genuine, intimate moments that are often overshadowed in larger weddings. I get the unique opportunity to connect with each couple on a deeper level, and I truly feel like I’m a part of their story. With fewer guests and a more relaxed atmosphere, small weddings allow for a more personal, candid experience, which is exactly what I love to capture.
Molly and Jason’s wedding was a perfect example of why I’m so passionate about photographing intimate weddings. Their day wasn’t just about the photos—it was about the moments, the connection, and the memories they created together with their closest family members. Every small detail, every laugh, every quiet exchange between the couple, felt incredibly meaningful. It’s these moments that I’m honored to capture, and it’s why I truly believe that small weddings have the power to be just as grand—and even more special—than larger celebrations.
