Katy and Phil’s wedding was a beautiful one! Lots of gorgeous flowers, the museum as a backdrop, and lovely people to work with. Most notably, her wedding dress was like none other I have ever seen! But all of these details were not simply for show. There was a lot more behind the story, that I’ll let Katy tell in her own words…
“Many of the wedding selections are motivated by my grandparents. They lived next door to me growing up, and I saw them everyday until I went to college. It’s heartbreaking for me that they won’t be at the wedding in person. They would have been more excited and prouder than anyone. I am thankful that Phil got to spend time with them before their passing. Our flowers will be blue and green hydrangeas because those were my pap’s favorite. He was an avid gardener and had several hydrangea bushes in his yard. My wedding dress is also a nod to him. Our cookie table will be comprised of my gram’s most treasured recipes. In lieu of favors, we will also be donating to a food pantry where she volunteered for years before her passing.”
Truly a family wedding, even if some of the family wasn’t there in person. Here are some favorites from their Carnegie Museum of Art wedding:

Super work! Do you mind sharing your dance floor lighting setup? It looks like maybe you’ve one flash on-camera and then several spread around the room?
Sure I have one speedlight on-camera (Flashpoint) and then two off-camera in opposite corners of the room. One is on group A and one is group B. I can turn them on/off from the speedlight on my camera at any given time, so I’ll switch it up depending on where I am standing in the room.
