First, I have to preface this wedding post by sharing the Gabriella and Jon went to THE MALDIVES for their honeymoon, and I’m not sure I’ll ever live down my envy. What a beautiful location to relax after a wedding!
However, upon their return, Gabriella was quick to update me with the last bit of information I ask, which is their proposal story. It goes a little something like this:
Jonathan’s dad coaches football, and his team was playing in the State Championship game on December 1st in Wheeling, West Virginia, which is only an hour from my parent’s house. We thought it would be a good idea to go to Pittsburgh after the game to see my family, however, I knew my parents had to attend a dinner that evening. Jonathan had a great solution: I had taken him to Phipps Conservatory earlier in the year and he mentioned wanting to see it over the holiday season- what a perfect opportunity! So, that’s what we did! After the game, we drove to Phipps. Jonathan was extremely quiet, which I thought was weird, but I was having so much fun singing in the car that I didn’t make a big deal about it. Once we got into Oakland, we realized how packed Phipps was. So when we got inside of the conservatory, we went to the outdoor sites as it was less crowded, and began to look at the lights. After we walked around for a bit, Jonathan called for me and when I turned around, he was on his knee proposing. I was so completely speechless that Jonathan had to ask me again! I finally was able to let out “YES!”
Isn’t that sweet?!? Loved reading through their story 🙂 Their wedding day was a beautiful July day, and we celebrated their marriage at their family parish in Oakland, and then a big party (with charcuterie and cookies on every table) at the Westin in Downtown Pittsburgh. What a great vibe, and a fun day!
