Nicolette and Jon were married on August 11th, with a ceremony and reception at the Pittsburgh Field Club.
Nicolette and Jon’s Love Story
These two college sweethearts got engaged in October after they finally signed the papers to their new home. Jon called Nicolette several times as she was on her way to their house to do some cleaning. She was stressed out after the event-filled morning and didn’t want to dress up like he’d asked, but when she arrived, he was dressed up on the front porch and wanted to carry her across the threshold. She pointed out that they weren’t even married yet, but he insisted, and she finally gave in. Needless to say, once he’d carried her in and proposed, the stress from earlier melted!
A Sweet Summer Pittsburgh Field House Wedding
After Nicolette and Jon’s Pittsburgh Field house wedding day, what truly stuck with me was the immense love Nicolette and Jon have. Not only for each other, but for their family. Nicolette is the youngest of four and has a twin brother and she’s close to all of her siblings. On the other hand, Jon is an only child, but he’s been adopted into Nicolette’s group of siblings so neatly and completely.
What’s more, Jon’s dad recently passed away, but he wrote a letter to Jon’s future bride before he did. That letter was read during the reception. And, as you can imagine, there was not a dry eye in the house. They also lit a Chinese lantern over the golf course that night to honor his father.
Jon has that same propensity for beautiful gestures of love, too. He gathered video from Nicolette’s family and friends talking about how wonderful she was, and he put it all together for a montage to play at the reception. He truly wanted to celebrate his new wife and her kindness and empathy.
On a different note, I have to say how much I enjoyed the true love of food these two had. They had buffalo chicken dip as an appetizer during cocktail hour, because Jon is OBSESSED with buffalo chicken anything—it’s his food staple! They also totally love Duck Donuts and had them at the reception so that everyone could take home donuts and cookies.
Thank you, Nicolette & Jon, for allowing me to be part of a truly emotional and beautiful wedding. It was a joy to be your wedding photographer. Thanks also to my second shooter, Susan, and to Chelsea Pujol with the Pittsburgh Field Club for the wedding planning; it’s always fun to work with a bride of mine! It seems like only yesterday that I was her wedding photographer for her New Years’ Wedding.
