Monterey Bay Fish Grotto Wedding
Nicole and Jim have big, fun plans. As they always do! Not only did they host some of their closest friends and family members at their intimate wedding at Monterey Bay Fish Grotto on Mt. Washington just this month, but they are also planning to have lots of people come with them to Mexico for a second wedding celebration in just a few weeks!
These two are easy-going, and love to have a good time. They care about the people close to them more than anything, and are thrilled to host on their new boat on Yough Lake. Their wedding day here in Pittsburgh was wonderful (and windy!) and it was an honor to photograph them over the course of this year (their engagement photos are here!). We started their wedding day at Mellon Park, where their immediate family members joined us for some photos. We took advantage of the pretty scenery of Mellon Park’s Walled Garden, and tried to get photos with hair not super-crazy in-between wind gusts!
Wedding Ceremony and Reception from Monterey Bay Restaurant
After that, we headed to the Mellon Institute Columns, where photos are always a classic Pittsburgh touch, and then drove up to Mt. Washington (in Friday-afternoon traffic…) for their ceremony and reception at Monterey Bay Fish Grotto. Their wedding ceremony took place on the restaurant’s bar level, and they stood in front of their family and friends with the Pittsburgh skyline as a beautiful backdrop through the windows. The ceremony was short and officiated by Kristin Ryan Weddings (we photographed her wedding, too!), and then we took some additional family photos on the Mt. Washington Overlook!
After that, their wedding reception and dinner took place in the same large room of Monterey Bay, and the guests enjoyed delicious cocktails, dinner, and florals by Fields of Heather. I had never photographed a wedding at Monterey Bay Restaurant, but it was absolutely gorgeous! The restaurant had a total overhaul a few years ago, and the design inside was modern and welcoming. The staff was fantastic in organizing the intimate event, and I would love to photograph another small wedding there in the future!
Congratulations to Nicole and Jim! You are both wonderful people – so calm, welcoming, and happy. I’m thrilled to have worked with you, and wish you many years of peaceful boating and love!
