Brittni and CJ were married on October 28th, with a ceremony and reception at the Rustic Acres Farm.
The Night that Started Brittni & CJ’s Love Story
Brittni and CJ met when Brittni was covering someone’s shift working the bar at Max & Erma’s in Robinson Township. She didn’t usually work Sundays, but she had worked there all through college and even stayed on part-time after college. She was just about to leave for the night when CJ came in and sat down at the bar, and she immediately knew that she wanted to stay around the handsome man. So, she started deep-cleaning the bar and got him some food and drinks while he watched the final round of the US Open. As it turned out, CJ hadn’t even been in Pennsylvania for more than an hour and had just flown in from Houston, Texas, where he had lived his whole life.
They talked all through the night, and CJ ended up leaving his phone number on his receipt and asked her if she would go to dinner with him. She called him up three hours later to make plans after work, and that dinner turned into a romance that lasted their whole lives.
A Rainy Rustic Acres Farm Wedding
Fast forward to October, when Brittni and CJ were all set up for a barn wedding on a cold, wet, rainy day. Brittni looked exquisite and her bouquet from Forget me Not Flowers was the perfect accessory to her stunning gown. The deep red, burgundy and wine flowers were so artfully blended and complementary to the bridesmaids’ gowns. The men also looked so handsome in their gray suits with wine ties to match. It was a lovely fall color palette despite the gloomy weather. My second shooter, Bryan, and I were determined to get those gorgeous shots all the same, even though we had a busy timeline and had to utilize every single covered area to get the pictures in. But we were able to make it work!
As an example of all the finagling we did behind the scenes to get the photography to work, I can remember getting a beautiful picture of Brittni and CJ inside the barn that showcased the chandelier. It’s a great picture, but what it doesn’t show is how I was taking that picture while tons of people watched from the sides of the barn to keep out of the way of the shot, all while salads were being plated behind me. It’s funny the stories that aren’t told in pictures!
It helped that the wedding itself was simply beautiful, which meant there were plenty of real emotions to photograph. The officiant was CJ’s grandfather, which made the wedding itself incredibly intimate. I also loved when they put pieces of First Corinthians Bible verses on plaques in front of the ceremony space.
CJ & Brittni, thank you for letting me be part of your touching wedding. And thank you especially for trusting me to pull off those images that you wanted, even if the weather wasn’t on our side!
