Olivia and Ben were married on November 4th, with a ceremony at the St. Paul Cathedral and a reception at the Fairmont Hotel Pittsburgh.
Ben and Olivia’s Love Story
Olivia and Ben were introduced through Danielle, who was Ben’s family friend and Olivia’s best friend in high school. In 2012, Olivia was headed to meet up with her friend for fitness tests so that they could stay in shape for college sports, and Danielle had invited Ben along for motivation. The two of them ended up falling in love—and were sure to include Danielle in the wedding as a bridesmaid for her role in their love story!
When Ben was ready to propose, he told Olivia they were going to a fundraiser his parents were throwing– since Dr. Whiting works on Parkinson’s patients. But instead of a fundraiser at the LeMont, it turned out to be a proposal, complete with a ready-made engagement party.
Olivia and Ben planned their day to perfection. My second shooter, Jenni, and I split up to capture the “getting ready” process with the bride and groom separately before the ceremony at the St. Paul Cathedral. Olivia had always wanted to get married there, so this was a dream come true for her, full of romance and the most beautiful purple details surrounding her with her favorite color.
A Romantic Fairmont Hotel Pittsburgh Wedding
We made it back to the Fairmont Hotel just in time to get the last of the daylight, which was perfect for some bridal party photos. The whole group had a blast together; it was obvious that they were all close and shared a genuine love for each other.
That same warmth and energy was present when Olivia and Ben were introduced into the reception. The guests surrounded the dance floor so that they could all be there to watch their first dance and celebrate their union. And the toasts by the father of the bride, best man, and maid of honor were nothing short of amazing, either.
I always love it when my couples get their parents involved in dances, and these were some of the sweetest I have ever seen. Ben’s mother, Cindy, was smiling the entire time she danced with him. And Olivia is truly “daddy’s little girl,” so their first dance was full of love and joy. He even kissed her hands so sweetly at the end of the dance.
Ben & Olivia, thank you for asking me to be your wedding photographer. I was touched by the closeness you share not only with each other but with your families, and I hope that you continue to share that love with others in your new lives together.
