On a traffic-y Tuesday night I was invited down to the Fairmont Hotel in Downtown Pittsburgh with Brad (my husband!) for a night out to taste the hotel’s new menu. I wasn’t sure what exactly the event would entail, but let me tell you – we were NOT disappointed! It was wonderful!

We were seated at a long table with some of the best in Pittsburgh (including Joe Mineo, Hello Productions, Steven Vance, Divine Celebrations, Soiree by Souleret, The Event Group, Sterling Events, Mocha Rose, All Occasions Party Rental, Eventioneers, and Paulette Zanotti), and were treated to a 7 course meal with their newest offerings for weddings and events. Everything on the menu was delicious. There was absolutely nothing that I didn’t enjoy. Here are some of the new items they are featuring for their brides and grooms. If you’re thinking of having your wedding at the Fairmont, I’m sure your guests will eat well – I sure did!

The gnocchi was absolutely amazing! it was done perfectly, and so delicious. Brad and I weren’t sure what we would think of asparagus soup, but it was a nice surprise! In fact, I think everyone at the table felt the same way. We all enjoyed it, and it’s fun to throw in a curveball every now-and-then that will pleasantly surprise your guests.

On the right is the new vegetarian option with chickpea and a pesto aioli. I like a vegetarian option that’s more than pasta!

These two were both incredible – halibut with capers and lentil and chicken (perfectly cooked) with brussels. Brad and I devoured them both.

Anytime I attend an event, I’m a “chicken please” person, and usually don’t eat a ton of red meat. But this filet was amaaaaazing. It was one of the final courses, but I saw a lot of empty plates still.

By the end of the night, so many of us were saying “Oh my goodness I am soooo full”, but then once the dessert table came out we all loosened those belts a bit and dove right in. Our favorite were the meringues filled with lemon custard and topped with blueberries and coconut. Absolutely incredible, and again, another unexpected twist on the menu.
