Ashley and Sean were married on September 15th, with a ceremony at St. Vincent College Basilica and a reception at the Stratigos Banquet Centre.
Sean and Ashley’s Love Story
Sean and Ashley met one day at the gym and ended up talking for over two hours before Sean asked her out to dinner. From there, they kept falling deeper and deeper in love until, one Valentine’s Day, Sean took Ashley out to eat. As they were driving home, Sean handed her a card, even though he’d said that they could do gifts after dinner, so Ashley hadn’t brought him anything. As Ashley’s head was down reading the long letter he had typed up in the card, she didn’t notice where he was driving until she looked up to see that they were at the restaurant where they had their first date. The last line of the letter said, “So now there is just one thing I have to ask you,” and when she looked up again, he had a ring!
A St. Vincent College Basilica Wedding
I love weddings like this when it’s nonstop action for me as the photographer. My coverage was a bit rushed because I had only been hired for 5 hours, but once I arrived at the Banquet Center, I was able to get pictures with Ashley and Sean as well as with their gorgeous dog, Harley, and the bridal party. But I’m a little bit weird, because I like the challenge of thinking quickly to create timeless photos even when timelines are tight. My job is to think well under pressure, after all, and you can’t tell that we shot a lot of these photos at the end of the parking lot! The power of creative photography totally makes up for speed and location.
I was also proud of the pictures of Ashley and Sean by the iron gates on the St. Vincent College campus as well as the photos of the bridal party in front of the Basilica. I loved that we were able to showcase two beautiful locations even with the time crunch. Working in the basilica is always a treat, because it’s an absolutely gorgeous church! The students of St. Vincent were all gathering around for the beginning of the semester, and it was a nice college campus wedding with equally pretty scenery.
A Sentimental Black, White and Lavender Wedding Palette
These two had chosen black and white as their wedding colors, with lavender as the accent color. This is because Ashley had a favorite aunt and uncle who recently passed away, and that aunt’s favorite color was light purple/lavender. They also honored Ashley’s aunt and uncle with a memory table so that they could have “seats” at the reception as well. What a beautiful way to honor their memory!
Sean & Ashley, thank you for letting me be part of your celebration and for being so willing to run with my suggestions. I wish you both nothing but the best!
