Omni William Penn Urban Room Weddings
Lindsay and Brent’s wedding was a beautiful June day, and I was so thankful to be a part of it! Lindsay sent me such a wonderful note after her gallery was delivered, and I think she understands – I love my job! Best job in the world.
“OMG LEEANN! I LOVE EVERY ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for capturing my family so beautifully and the whole feeling of the day so perfectly. It brought it all back! Im going to spend the entire afternoon looking through every single one and choosing favorites (which is going to be a difficult task!) Having you there to coordinate everything and capture my family so well was an invaluable asset to have on my wedding day. The way you organized my “lively” bunch was flawless and professional in every way. You are truly living out your passion and it shows. What a dream! Thanks again for everything. I could not have chosen a better photographer to fit with me, my vision, my family and friends, so nicely. Love, Lindsay”
Bridal Preparation Room at Omni William Penn Pittsburgh
Lindsay and her bridesmaids (and Brent and the guys!) all got ready for their wedding at the Omni William Penn Hotel, where they would return later in the day for their wedding reception. When I arrived, Lindsay was just finishing up her hair and makeup, and so I was able to photograph her details in the bridal suite, which had plenty of natural light and space to move around.
I asked Lindsay to get into her dress in front of some of the large Bridal Suite windows, which overlook downtown Pittsburgh and have ample light. I knew that her mom wanted some wonderful, personal photos of her helping Lindsay into her wedding dress (her only daughter!), and so having this space was a wonderful way to capture them together without a lot of clutter and in an interesting manner.
After Lindsay was all dressed and ready, we prepped Brent outside in the Mellon Square area for their first look in front of the Omni Hotel. Since we had great weather, we were able to take advantage of the open air and they had a lovely, personal first look – even with the people on the streets who were watching the bride and groom the whole time.
Following their first look, we had some time to drive around Pittsburgh and photograph the bridal party and to-be-married couple for all of their wedding photos before the ceremony. We visited the CMU Columns, and Phipps Conservatory, and then drove over to the North Side for their ceremony.
Wedding Ceremony at St Boniface North Side
St. Boniface Church was very special to Lindsay and Brent, as it’s been a “family church” for a long time. All of their family members enjoyed being in the church for the ceremony and getting together in a place that is important to all of them. The ceremony was personal and charming, and afterwards we were able to get lots of family portraits in the front by the altar and also in the narthex area with some gorgeous light (but not having to step outside into the heat!)
Lindsay looked beautiful in her wedding dress from Bridal Beginning (my favorite!) and bridal jewelry by Kendra Scott (also my favorite!), and her makeup by Kiss and Makeup was on-point!
Wedding Reception in Urban Room at Omni
We then drove back to the Omni Hotel and photographed them just a bit more around the Omni grounds, and then ventured upstairs for their wedding reception in the Urban Room. The Urban Room is an incredible, unique space for a wedding reception at the Omni, since the walls are all black and it holds a cool art-deco chandelier in the center of the room. I’m sure that all of their guests were wowed with the scenery!
Lindsay and Brent dressed up the Urban Room with flowers by Allison McGeary and cookies by Oakmont Bakery (mmmmm some of my favorites!) They were entertained all night by the Bachelor Boys Band. The space is actually sometimes difficult to photograph, since the walls are black and the ceiling in the event room is high. This makes it tricky from a photography perspective, since I need to use a lot of off-camera light to avoid reflections in the wall glass, and black is not really a reflective surface! It’s important that any Urban Room wedding photographer understands how to properly light this space, because it really can make-or-break your wedding reception pictures!
Thank you!
Thank you so much for having me with you, and for trusting me as your wedding photographer! LOVED working with you both! xoxo
