Epiphany Catholic Church + Renaissance Hotel Wedding
When I rolled in to the Renaissance to meet up with Kelsey and Austin I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. We hadn’t met before their wedding day – just chatted over the phone, and I was anxious to get to know them as a couple.
Well, let me just say that these two blew me away! Not only are they BEAUTIFUL people, but they care so much about each and every person they come in contact with. They are kind-hearted, calm, loving, and an adorable couple. It was such a pleasure to photograph their wedding day, and I couldn’t be more in love with their gallery.
I really loved Kelsey’s wedding dress – the color of the mesh fit perfectly with her skin tone, so it just looked like she was floating in lace all day! On top of that, her wedding dress from Bridal Beginning had lovely buttons on the sleeves, that were just gorgeous!
Austin wrote his note to Kelsey on legal paper, which we all thought was hilarious! However, he had a lot to say to his bride, because it was 6 pages long!
Kelsey’s father wasn’t there to hand her over to Austin, so they honored him with his photography in frames as gifts, and also with a little photo on her wedding bouquet by Hepatica.
A wedding ceremony at Epiphany Catholic Church
Their wedding ceremony was at Epiphany Catholic Church next to PPG Paints arena, although it was supposed to be in the North Side (their first church was under construction!) However, despite the venue change, they rolled with it and had a beautiful ceremony at Epiphany! I always love working there, and found a BEAUTIFUL little nook with great light for a portrait of Kelsey – one of my favorite bridal portraits to date.
Look at that reflection! I always love this shot! 🙂
LOOK AT HER! Oh my goodness, this staircase at Epiphany Catholic Church was just gorgeous, although slightly treacherous. I was afraid the whole time that we were going to fall down the stairs, but I think the effort was well worth it! I had Kelsey walk up the staircase slowly, so that I could wait until the light hit her veil and face just right. Add in that look and we’ve got a winner! The power of photography.
Bride and Groom Photos at the Allegheny County Courthouse
When we were planning their photos, we had to plan a location that would be close to the Renaissance, because they only had their trolley for a set amount of time. We decided to head over to the courtyard at the Allegheny County Courthouse, which I now know they prefer you to ask for permission to enter. Whoops! They were really nice, though, and we got to shoot with this gorgeous light, background, and fountain. I think this was the perfect location for their wedding portraits, since it held the bridal party perfectly, and also had beautiful light in the mid-afternoon.
Do I sense a magazine cover here?
Wedding Reception at the Renaissance Hotel Pittsburgh
After photos, we headed over the Renaissance Hotel, where I got to finally see the newly renovated ballroom all done-up! It looks great! I loved the pink uplighting that they included, and the beautiful low flowers on the tables for centerpieces. Their band was also fantastic, and everyone danced into the night!
The dome inside of the Renaissance is always a nice backdrop for a Pittsburgh cookie table!
