I have said it time and time again, but I just LOVE it when guys contact me to photograph their proposals! It’s such an exciting time, and I love being in on a secret!! Steve contacted me the week before he was to propose to his girlfriend, Laura, and we set up all of the details for the night. Dinner time? Check. Walk to Mt. Washington overlook? Check. Cell numbers to text the details? Check. We were ready to go!

I’ll have to tell you – when I’m photographing these public proposals I feel like MS. OBVIOUS! I was walking around on Mt. Washington hiding a 70-200 (i.e. huge) lens behind my camera bag and pretending to play on my phone. I would find random people to stand next to and tell them to pretend that I’m their friend (I’m not kidding), and when the time came for Steve and Laura to finally walk onto the overlook my heart was RACING! I’m sure Steve’s was too! It’s such an exciting time!!

When he finally got down on one knee to propose I was on the other side of the street shooting on my long lens, but I wanted to get in closer once he was on one knee  – so what do I do? – run across the street with my camera up to my face. Good thing I didn’t get splattered! Hey, it’s all for the moment!

These two were an absolute pleasure to work with. Laura was totally surprised by Steve’s proposal and surprise trip to Pittsburgh (her hometown). Such a fun night! I love being a part of their proposal story and hope that these photos helped to really capture the moment 🙂
