Carrie and Nick both love Pittsburgh, which is why they are looking forward to celebrating their wedding next April with friends and family at Long Vue Country Club. But in the meantime, they’re both super busy with their jobs and considering a possible move to another area. Nick’s job as an MD leaves him some flexibility on places to practice, and they’re excited about the opportunities that are available to them together.
When they’re not working, Carrie and Nick have an amazing joint sense of humor, always quoting SNL skits or movies together. Will Farrell is a favorite (agreed!). They love a good Burgatory burger and fries, and are the kind of couple you want sitting next to you at the bar just hanging out on a Tuesday evening.
We photographed their engagement session in the downtown city streets, in order to celebrate Pittsburgh a little more! Here are some of my favorites!
Now that’s a cute couple!
Love shooting in the alleyways.
Striking a pose with a colorful mural:
LOVE the light in the photo on the right! That late afternoon sun is just lovely.
The fountains were on at the Convention Center, so we took full advantage.
We just LOVED all of Despina and Mike’s wedding details, from the shoes to the reception decor – it was wonderful! A big shoutout to Joseph Mineo of Something New Events and Floral for all of his fantastic work!
Handmade ceremony crowns and candles:
Lots of bling!
Mr. Anthony’s Banquet Center looked wonderful!
Massive seating charts, and a bride + groom sweetheart table with amazing chairs!
We loved the crystals on ribbons that were hung over the entire dance floor!
Danielle and Aaron love to enjoy a glass of wine while relaxing together with their dog after a long day. They love to get together with friends, go out for dinner and drinks in the city, but also love to stay cozy at home.
They just closed on their new house, and are enjoying all of the fun adventures that come with home-ownership! Danielle grew up in the South Hills area, and is very much a city girl (love her for this!). She loves shopping, so we got to talk all things shoes, bags, and jewelry during the session. On the flip side, Aaron is a diehard Penguins fan so he also is high up there in my book of awesomeness.
We photographed their engagement session in the downtown Pittsburgh area, meeting at the Omni William Penn (where they’ll be married next October!). Danielle wore her favorite color of orange, and I’m just in love with their photos! Here are some of my favorite pictures from their engagement session:
Love the reflections in some of the downtown buildings:
And the glass!
And the lines! I’m obviously a big fan of downtown engagement photos.
Danielle, you are just stunning.
The perfect fall light, with some great jackets.
What! How CUTE is this?!
And of course, we had to get a bit of the city skyline in there too!
We had about 3 minutes to create some stunning bride + groom portraits yesterday, and all we can say is…
How can you not love everything about this? *swoon*
Can’t wait to see Marybeth and Michael’s 46-page, “tusk” colored linen book!
Carla and Bill were married on a lovely September day, in a church with the most beautiful beams of light and color. Melissa and I could have worked in there all day – it was simply lovely. Carla and Bill’s wedding was a hometown wedding, taking place in an area not to far from my home, and it was lovely to feel like there was so much love right in the backyard.
Aside from wedding planning, they love to laugh together and have fun. These two do everything together from going grocery shopping to shopping at the mall and going to sporting events. They also enjoy “Sunday Funday” at Carla’s parent’s home. We’re sure they also enjoyed their beautiful honeymoon in Aruba (love that place), and thank them tremendously for having Melissa and I with them on such a special day!
Here are some of our favorites from their wedding day:
A cheers with her bridesmaids before leaving for the church:
A gift to Bill – new watch.
Listening to the priest’s homily:
Photograph by Melissa!
We found ourselves a Jolly Rodger!
Loved Carla’s cathedral wedding veil:
Another photograph by Melissa, perfectly capturing that big blue sky, bride and groom, and the downtown Pittsburgh scenery.
I’d say they look pretty darn happy!
Snuggling outside of Heinz Field.
Time for the toasts entertainment at the wedding reception!
Cheers to the new bride and groom!
Taking in the good times during the garter application.
And a wonderful sparkler exit from their wedding reception! Congratulations!
You win, you always do. That’s why I come up here.
A preview of Carrie + Nick’s downtown Pittsburgh engagement session:
This morning I woke up to the sound of my garage door humming open. I was initially startled, but when my mind started finally functioning I realized that it was our neighbors testing an opener. We had got one of ours mixed with theirs, and they wanted to make sure they were giving us back the correct one.
And then, laying in the crisp fall air with my blankets up to my chin another important thought hit me: our neighbors are back. And they’re moving. To South Carolina. I rolled out of bed, threw on a hoodie, and walked over to our bedroom blinds only to see a moving van peeking between the cracks of the blinds. Sure enough, the day is here and our bonfire friends are leaving on their next life journey.
Our neighbors have been absolutely wonderful to us in these past five years, and we have become such good friends with them. We are going to miss them on those late fall evenings surrounded by warm flames, and hope to be able to visit them as much as possible in their new home in the heated south.
Life has been good lately, which is why it’s hard to actually blog about it – who ever really writes about things just being great? Not a lot of people. But truly, life has been really wonderful. We’re watching so many of our close friends walk through the doors of different life changes, and they’re all so happy. Our neighbors, although we’ll miss them, are on to a new exciting adventure. We have new squishy babies around us to cuddle, and friends who are celebrating new exciting marriages and homes to decorate as their own. Our good family friend, Ryan, is on the verge of being fitted for his new prosthetics, and we enjoyed a warm, beachy vacation with him in August.
There’s lots of love in those that surround us, and we have just been feeling so blessed to have all of these recent good times. It’s so easy to forget about blogging personal stories, when the experiences are just where we want to be!
As I watch the moving van being packed tighter and tighter, I think about luck. How lucky Brad and I are to have such wonderful friends. People. Lives. I am so grateful.
Carla + Bill’s wedding we right in my backyard, between the Bridgeville and Greentree locations! They accented their wedding day with black, white, and pink details:
We were in love with the beams of light streaming through St. Barbara Church:
Yum – chocolate covered strawberries!
A great monogram to accent the reception room:
And lots and lots of candles!
This space is called The Boiler Room, and it’s a newer venue in the Pittsburgh area:
