OUR APPROACH TO WEDDINGS
EXCLUSIVE VENDOR LIST
What advice would you give a bride who is looking for a wedding photographer?
Make sure you love two things: the photographer and their work. We believe that it’s so important to have someone with you on your wedding day whose company you enjoy. Hire someone who you truly get along with. Make sure your photographer can handle a variety of lighting and posing situations, and make sure they are able to bring out the emotion in photos that you connect with. Consistency and personality are key.
How has your experience in wedding photography helped you in difficult circumstances on a wedding day?
We have been in ridiculously dark churches. It’s rained. It’s been the sunniest-brightest day outside. We’ve had 15 minutes for photography, and We’ve had 3 hours. We’ve dealt with family members that are a bit cranky and little kids who simply want to go and play. We’ve worked with couples who don’t like certain parts of their physique, and have been all over the Pittsburgh area. We are familiar with the wedding day timelines, and are there to help you when you’re not sure how exactly to cut the cake.
What’s your favorite part of the wedding day to photograph?
Working one and one with our couples. That’s when we can be expressive and create some beautiful wedding photographs of the newly-married couple. And, we like hanging out with you.
What are your top tips for couples to help them get great photos on their wedding day?
Plan on photography time. Communicate any ideas that you think may be fun, but you’re worried we’ll think are weird. We’re all up for anything that is you! Ask your officiant to step out of the photo when you have your first kiss. Wear clothing that is flattering on your body shape and makes you look amazing. Avoid tanning beds. Don’t wear shoes that hurt too much. Enjoy the whole day and take it all in. Don’t get worried if things don’t go exactly as planned. Smile a lot (that will happen anyway!)
How important is it to hire an experienced wedding photographer?
Like anything else, you get what you pay for. It’s important to not only understand how to work a fancy camera, but also how to communicate with clients, let you know timelines, edit work properly, backup your files safely, and feel comfortable throughout the entire wedding day. It’s also important to carry business insurance, pay taxes, and have bullet-proof contacts.
Do you offer albums? If so, describe the albums you offer and why you think it’s important to provide albums.
Absolutely. When I (Leeann) was married, I only received the digital files from my wedding. They sit on a disc in my fire-proof safe, but I have nothing to show for my wedding day. Over four years later, my husband begs and begs me to make a wedding album.
Do you allow other cameras at the wedding?
Absolutely, it’s your wedding. If your family members would like a duplicate of the formal photographs, we will gladly step aside for them after we have ensured a photo with all eyes on us. We do ask to be the only photographer present during bridal party and couple portrait sessions.
When do we receive our photos?
Your photos will be online within 4-5 weeks of your wedding date, if not sooner. Because we get really excited about them. Like super excited.
What digital format do you deliver the wedding images?
You will receive a high-resolution digital download of images (for printing of enlargements). The images will be jpeg images. Included will be a print release for you to make prints as you’d like.
You will also receive a custom online website with images for posting on social media sites and emailing. These images are specially resized and sharpened to ensure that they ‘pop!’ on the internet.
Where do you suggest we print our wedding photos?
You can print your wedding images at a photo lab of choice, including Costco, Wal-mart, Target, mPix.com, etc. via their kiosks. If you demand higher quality, you can obtain professionally-printed photographs through our partnership with Pictage.
What kind of cameras to you use?
We use Nikon and Canon equipment and various lighting equipment. We have backups of my equipment, and are sure to shoot your wedding day photographs with professional grade equipment.
Will our final images be watermarked or branded in any way?
No, the high-res files are not watermarked. Your internet ready files are watermarked for copyright purposes.
Do you bring back-up equipment?
Can you photograph in a large variety of lighting situations?
Yes. We bring fast, light-grabbing lenses and high-sensitivity cameras in case of limited light. We also carry on-camera flash and portable, off-camera studio-style lights when the situation demands.
Do you book more than one wedding per day?
Leeann will shoot one wedding, and Loren can shoot another. None of our photographers are ever double-booked on a wedding date!
How far in advance do you book weddings?
Couples book several weeks to over a year in advance. Once a signed contract and deposit has been recieved, we will give you my undivided attention on your wedding day and before that too! If there’s a new restaurant in the city you’d like to hit up, we’re all for it!
Our Approach To Weddings:
- Part-planner. Is your Mother-In-Law driving your crazy? Been there. Done that. Are you panicking over whether or not you should wear fake eyelashes on your wedding day? We’re friends with numerous make up artists in the area. We can help you out in more ways than just photography. (We still believe in the power of a wedding coordinator!)
- An artist. We pride ourselves on creating something different and unique for each of my clients. We don’t shoot the same thing every time. We blog a lot. We like to produce things that are different. We love playing with light, architecture, and locations.
- Memory Preservationist. We’ve been to numerous weddings. We know that there are standard wedding shots, including the formals. We take these photos! However, it’s important to understand that every wedding day is different, and your memories of a day are only as strong as what you’re able to soak in and look back on. With wedding days that sometimes seem like a blur, we’re there to capture your memories. The important stuff.
- Day-Of-Happy-Keeper. If your wedding is in the middle of July, the guys will be hot in tuxedos. We know this, and aim to always, always work within the time limits that we have to keep people happy while producing some amazing photos. Do you have 5 step-siblings straight out of Cinderella? Let us know before hand and we smile our way to peace-keeping wonders!
