Scarlett Lillian Workshop | Whitney | America’s Next Top Model

I spent some time recently in Jacksonville, Florida at the Scarlett Lillian workshop! While I was there, I met some amazing women and friends who came from near and far. It was a great experience, and I truly felt like I learned a little something from each of them. On the second day of the workshop, our guest model was none other than Whitney Thompson, Cycle 10 winner of America’s Next Top Model….. a show that I’ve only watched every season of (except for the first..). I was more than excited to meet her and work with her! She definitely showed up looking pretty normal – like you wouldn’t pick her out in a mall or something. But after hair and makeup, wow! She was stunning!

We got to play around with off camera lighting, and it was a great experience to teach some of the other women at the workshop the power of a Pocketwizard and the amazing imagery you can create with the proper settings. In talking more with them about shutter speed, aperture, and how everything works together, I had an extremely rewarding experience. It was great to teach a little bit and share the information that I had learned only a few short months earlier.

“Rappin’ Up” the Scarlett Lillian Workshop tonight. Today was the last day! Heading back to snowy Pittsburgh tomorrow, but Jacksonville was amazing! Here are some of my wonderful new friends and I rapping about our experience. Enjoy!

We’re shooting and spending our workshop days this weekend at the One Ocean Resort in Jacksonville. It’s an amazing place! The decor is very cool, trendy, and unique. It just screams “cool beach vibe”. Love it!

And shooting in the mirror! Me = nerd

Workshop Day 1 | The Deets

Wow! So I’m here in Florida! Crazy!! The trip down was successful – I was nervous with the big snowstorm coming! But alas, I’m here, and I met some WONDERFUL ladies so far! We chatted and then headed out to the Little Black Dress and Cutest Heels party, where I didn’t take any pictures, but my roommate and I have created this special little vlog for you (vlog = video blog! get with it!) And now, meet Lydia Shannon!

Some things we realized from this video:
1) We’re nerds.
2) We don’t know how to pronounce Jess’s last name, until now!
3) I don’t know how to hold my toothbrush correctly.
4) We look rabid while brushing
5) There’s much more fun stuff to come! Stay tuned!

AMAZINGLY EXCITING NEWS!!!

Oh my I get so excited at my little desk I just wanna almost pee my pants!!!!!

So for those of you that don’t know – I’m totally obsessed with America’s Next Top Model. I’ve been watching it for YEARS and it has consistently consumed by Wednesday nights. I rooted for Whitney, because I loved that she was beautiful “plus-size” model. I love Eva and all of her attitude. I thought Naima was wonderfully graceful. Nicole last season was totally unique and her look was ever-changing. Oh, who am I kidding?! I love them all!!!!

So what’s the AMAZINGLY EXCITING NEWS?!!

Well! One of the winners from ANTM will be a model for us at Scarlett’s workshop! Literally, this was my response to her video:

SQUEE!!! Not too long until I’ll be down in Florida for the Scarlett Lillian Workshop! I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am for it! There are so many wonderful women attending, and I just can’t guesstimate how much I’ll learn!

BUT.

Let’s get serious.

There are important matters at hand.

OMG! SHOES!

The workshop is Friday through Monday, and on Friday night there will be a “Little Black Dress and Your Hottest Heels” party! So what do I need from you?! I need help picking shoes! (This is the consequence of consistent mall visits – I need people to vote on what I should wear! Eek! )
