So Tuesday was a tough day. I realized that I was working all day, night, and weekends. I’ve been working hard, but because I tend to be a workaholic and tough judge, I haven’t been very good at giving myself a break. It all kind of caught up to me, and I realized that I needed to take it a little slower. I need to focus on what is the right thing for me to do now so that I can be where I want to be in the future. But those aren’t one in the same, and I’m not going to get anywhere by being stagnant. Therefore, with the suggestion of some other wonderful photographers in Pittsburgh, I decided that it was the right time to start a “me’ project.
The “365 Project” is a self-assigned (but others are making sure I stick to it) project where I have to take one picture a day. For a year. 365. Three hundred and sixty five pictures. Not so hard, right? Wrong. I’ll forget to do it, but that’s what Brad’s there for. He’s been assigned to make sure I keep on top of things. What’s the significance of this, considering that I take way over 365 pictures in a single wedding? Well, it’s learning. I want to grow even more, and I think this project will help me to become an even better photographer and artist. I’m planning on writing about my experiences on my blog, but I won’t post a photo everyday – I’ll probably do once a week collages instead, so stay in tune!
Therefore, without further ado, I present – day one.

So what did I learn from this lesson? Well, the big image is the final one. The bottom images are what it took to get there. Lesson: You have to be able to produce in-camera what you see out-of-camera. Sometimes this is an interative process, but with practice it becomes more natural.
